About Island HOOPS
Our Mission
Our goal is to provide an inclusive environment where children have fun, improve as athletes, give their best effort, and learn to work well with others. We encourage them to find joy in physical activity and practice good sportsmanship in both victory and defeat. Ultimately, we aim to build character traits that will serve kids well throughout their lives, both on and off the court.
Leadership & Coaching
Island HOOPS is directed by Henry Guterson, who personally coaches all programs. Henry grew up on Bainbridge Island and still calls the Island home. He established Island HOOPS in 2013 after a decade of coaching children through organizations like the Bainbridge Park & Recreation District and Roots Basketball. His coaching background also includes serving as Head Boys Basketball coach at Kingston High School and Head Girls Basketball coach at Bainbridge High School. Additionally, he has served as a PE teacher at several private elementary schools on Bainbridge, including The Island School and St. Cecilia Catholic School.
Our Offerings
Basketball Clinics & Camps on Bainbridge and in Poulsbo.
Multi-Sport Clinics & Camps on Bainbridge. Sports include basketball, baseball, football, volleyball, lacrosse, tennis, soccer, pickleball, and court hockey.
After-School Sports at elementary schools on Bainbridge.
